Problems with bibliography

Hi,

I'm having problems when trying to add my bibliography using Word 2007 with Standalone Zotero.

I have no issues putting in the in-text references, but when I come to adding the bibliography, this will not only be added to where my cursor is, but will also be added to where one of my first in-text references is. So then part of my text is then treated as a reference with a similar format, i.e the indentation etc. Even after manually deleting it, my normal text will remain in a format similar to that of the bibliography.

I really hope someone has a solution as this has been going on for a while and all I do is go around is circles!

Thank you,

Isabelle
  • Please provide more info:

What version of Zotero SA? What version of the Zotero Word integration tool? What citation style? If you start a new Word document ( as a test) , write a few lines, insert a bib; does the same problem occur?
  • actually we probably don't need that info in this case.
There is a hidden field with the bibliography tag from Zotero in your word document - it probably didn't get deleted fully some time in the past.
Find it and delete it - if you're using Word, this should be relatively easy by showing field codes (alt+f9).
  • I have encountered this problem before and it has been version related. With early versions of the ZSA, Word 2007, and author date styles; Word can go kind-of crazy and insert fields (especially the bibliography) seemingly on its own. This also happens with other software that interacts with unpatched Word 2007. This regularly occurred on computers with less RAM and only after a document has been saved, reopened, edited, and saved more than once. The problem went away on new documents when all software was updated and Word 2007 had received all patches.
