Considering Zotero - my specifics
Hi, I'm a postgrad in Edinburgh, Scotland. Just started using EndNote a few months ago with middling results. I am wondering about switching to Zotero, but I have questions about compatibility. At my school office computer, I am (just now thanks to the upgrade) on MS Word 2010; on my laptop, I use OpenOffice. Will it be possible to retain my citations, footnotes, bibliography etc. if I'm working on the same document on these two different computers with different systems?
A separate question I've been considering is, if I send the document to someone else (ie my supervisor), do they need Zotero to see the citations?
Apologies if these are basic questions - I'm not terribly up on this stuff.

1. Bookmarks currently don't work for footnote syles (MHRA, Chicago Manual) If you do want a footnote style as the final product, you can still convert the document at any point (first to Fields/Reference Marks, then to the footnoted style), though - you just won't be able to send it back and forth with a footnoted style.
2. Seeing the citations is not going to be a problem, but it could happen that your supervisor would delete the Zotero field codes or break Zotero citations (the latter especially when/since you're using bookmarks). So if you need to continue working with documents you get back from your supervisor you may want to test that first.
