problems importing from endnote 7

i'm trying to important citations from endnote 7. i've tried this exporting my library from endnote to a file with several different styles: bibtex, refer, and refman (ris). regardless of the style, when i try to import the file to zotero i get a message saying an error occured and to check to see if the file is valid. the citations are all there in the file, but i have no idea how to tell if it's "valid." some cites do actually make it into zotero despite that error message, but only a very small percentage of the total. what to do? thanks in advance! ds

    How many entries are you trying to import? The first thing to do is to open the file you exported from Endnote with a text editor to see if the information is actually there. Sometimes Endnote can do a terrible job of actually including the information in the exported file.

    To help troubleshoot the issue you might consider breaking the exported file into several smaller chunks. Sometimes there is just a few items or a even a single completely malformed item that can throw the whole process off. If you import these smaller chunks you can find where the culprit is.

    If you do find out what the specific problem record is please post it here so we can see if their is any way to work around the issue in future imports.
