Can Zotero view pdf using a new tab instead of using the current tab in firefox?

when i doble-click pdf file from Zotero firefox, the pdf file is opened in the current tab. I don't want this operation. i just want to create a new tab and open the pdf.

Can Zotero implment this operstion?

    crtl+click will do that for you in Zotero as in Firefox generally.

    Good, but why not use newing a tab as defalt operation?

    because I don't think that's what people expect and it may even be confusing when you have lots of tabs open and don't even really see the new tab.
    I for one want to see a pdf or snapshot that I'm opening immediately and note have to click on a tab to get to it.

    Ctrl+(double)click is annoying in Zotero: first, you need to click on the item without pressing ctrl (otherwise you'll select more than one item) before any ctrl+click; above all, at least on Windows (7), I have to double-doubleclick (yes double-double!) while pressing ctrl — otherwise, after the first ctrl+doubleclick, the item gets unselected! Is it a bug?
    (ctrl+Enter doesn't have this second flaw.)

    With Firefox, I use the middle-button (tertiary mouse button) to open links in new tabs; that would be great to make this possible in Zotero... and, to address adamsmith's (right) concern, to focus immediately to the new tab (but I'm not sure that's technically possible in/from an extension?)
