numbering of references

Hi,

Is there a feature of numbering the references i insert to my zotero database?
so that when printing a document, i can catalog it with the appropriate zotero database number?

    I'd also like the answer to Hanan's question. I have an 800+ Endnote library that I am considering migrating to Zotero. This is based on hard copies, not pdfs. I have them numbered and organized in my files in the order they were entered. There doesn't seem to be an option to retain this style of organization, and I'm not really ready to switch.

    Numbering your files by some internal database number is a really bad idea.

    Thanks for your insight. Do you have an answer for the question posted by Hanan and myself?

    Why do you think numbering is such a bad idea? I mean that I have hard copies numbered 1,2,3..etc. put in folders. I find this better than keeping them by author or topic, etc. How do you do this? thanks.

    You could use tags, couldn't you?
