Zotero Buttons do not work

Hi
I'm LibreOffice 3.6. and Ubuntu 12.10, Zotero 3.0.11 and Zotero Libre Office 3.5.3. If I try to install it on LibreOffice it tells me that it didn't work. I have however the Zotero buttons in LibreOffice (text no icons) but they do not work.

What's the exact message ("do not work" is vague)?

Clicking on the toolbar buttons does not have an effect. What is bizarre is that the buttons are visible but when I go to the extension manager in libre office, the zotero plugin does not appear.

what happens during installation? If reinstalling doesn't work, have you tried manual install (instructions for both can be found under the link provided by Gracile).

When I try to Zotero manually inside LibreOffice I got the following message from the Extension Manager: (com.sun.star.unoRuntimeException)((Message="JNI exception occured", Context=(com.sun.star.uno.XInterface)@7f0304094458(ImplementationName="com.sun.star.comp.stoc.JavaVirtualMachine")))

In the extension manager one reads: "Error: The status of this extension is unknown."
