Export single or selected reference in RIS or other accepted format

I would like to be able to share a reference via email or chat (or whatever) to other zotero users outside of the online Zotero community *in a data file format that they can import directly into their Zotero collection*. I'm thinking of the way contact apps like apple Address Book export individual contacts as vCard files, and calendar apps export events as .ics files. The result would be that instead of the Quick-Copy functionality that gives you the formated reference in text, you would get a file that could be directly imported into someone else's Zotero collection.

I've used the export function, but that is only for the entire library rather than individual references.

Sorry if this has already appeared, I did a search and couldn't find it.

    Select an item, right-click-> Export the selected item

    also, if you're library is public, you can point people to an item/collection etc. in your online library and they can export .RIS

    Finally, you can also set quick-copy to export translators (at the bottom of the list), including RIS.
