same author in separate entry

Using for export the style Modern Humanities Research Association, the output presented one author-line then all her books. I manually created full author-line per book (which is what I want), and ascending order by date would be nice too. MHRA style is not mandatory. I didn't see a way to upload a rtf or odt file so some of the formatting is lost hereinbelow. Suggestions appreciated.

    sorry, I'm a little confused still. Is the first example from a style you coded or from Zotero's MHRA style? And how exactly did you create that bibliography? (Word plugin? Quick copy/drag&drop?)
    Also, not sure what you mean by "author-line"?

    This is how this should look in MHRA style. I'm not sure what's going wrong in your case. Make sure you have the most recent copy of the style from zotero.org/styles . Which Zotero version?
    Are you creating the bibliography to clipboard? And then, where do you paste this into? What you're seeing isn't expected behavior at all, so you'll need to give us a detailed step-by-step of what you're doing.

    My initial biblio-test was on a computer running Xubuntu 12.04.1, version 3.0.11.1 of Zotero. I just did a 2nd test (same cites) with a computer running Windows 7, Zotero 3.0.11.1. Each operating system offered me a different list of biblio-format choices, with w7 set seeming more thorough.

    sorry, again, not enough detail - we really need a step-by-step of what you're doing.
    The options you get for creating bibliographies in Zotero do not depend on the operating system, you can install any number of multiple thousand styles on any version of Zotero:

    Procedure on Xubuntu Acer-computer, same procedure on Win7 computer.

    In my Zo database, search for Martin. That retrieved 5 cites. I used Ctrl-click to select 4. Then I used right-click to create bibliography in rtf format. Options for 'save as' differ between the two computers, with Xubu computer offering only 9 output options. Links are to images.

    Conclusion: Xubuntu > Zotero > rtf > Open Office creates an output different from Win7 > Zotero > rtf > Open Office

    Also, several common programs work differently in Xubuntu vs Win7 - eg Thunderbird & Firefox.

    Again, the output formats ("styles") offered depend on the styles installed and you can add additional ones - see my link above.

    Clearly the RTF output in Xubuntu is incorrect and I don't know why. Could you try whether a bibliography comes out right (i.e. which each entry starting on a new line) in a different style, e.g. one of the Chicago Manual styles, or American Pschyological Association?
    Also, how about if you select "Clipboard" as output method and the paste the file into Open Office?
    Finally, how about if you take the .rtf created in Xubuntu and open it with Ooo or Word on your Windows machine?

    I tried four other biblio-output styles, only on computer with Xubuntu 12.04.1. The 4 are presented in 2 JPGs, style-labels therein.

    OK, those look right to me. That means the problem is Open Office on Xubuntu - I'd try installing the latest version of LibreOffice and see if that works better.
    In any case there isn't much we can do: Zotero produces correct RTF (the clipboard version never looks _exactly_ the same - though if I see that correctly the only difference is the line spacing, which can be easily adjusted) but your OpenOffice version on Xubuntu loses the line-breaks. I can't tell you why, but that's not something Zotero can fix.

    I seem to remember working with someone who had the same problem with OOo and we fixed the line spacing in the bibliography by making changes to the Format/styles for that section. If you have already tried this, I apologize for the irrelevancy.

    After these various, appreciated posts, a correction.

    My Acer 1410 with Xubuntu 12.04.1 is running LibreOffice writer 3.5.4.2 Build 350m1 (Build 2). My w7 computer is a HP dv7t with MS Word and - for this thread - was running OO 3.4.1.

    If need be, how do I make changes to the Format/syles as mentioned in prior post?

    the styles as mentioned by DWL would only fix the line spacing - i.e. the difference between the two outputs here: http://www.pbase.com/aspergerian/image/148564865 - , not the absence of newlines.
    I'd still try installing a more recent version of LO on Xubuntu (probably use the stable 3.6.x release, not the 4.0 rc), see if that helps.

    I installed LO 3.6.5 on my HP w7 computer and will have to determine when LO 3.6.5 will be available in the Ubuntu Software Center (perhaps already). I need my Acer to remain functional so I dare not try a by-myself installation from LO source http://www.libreoffice.org/

    Thnx again for the insights. I now have ways to format biblios appropriately.

    I think the 12.04 release will likely stick to the LO 3.5 branch - but there should be a .deb available on the LO site that's very easy to install (and the install very easy to revert).
