Retrieve metadata initially worked, then it stopped working

Hi all.
I have a problem with the retrieve pdf metadata. For many files it had worked well, but at a certain point it stopped to retrieve informations. Simply, now for each file I try it says me that it was not possible to retrieve metadata.
This is my debug ID: D680528701

Thanks.
  • Thanks.
I have changed my public IP addres, but this didn't solve my problem, so I think it is not due to the Google Scholar block.
  • If you go to Google Scholar and perform a search, does it give you results as expected? If so, then you are not being blocked.

Dan or Simon will have to take a look at the debug ID otherwise to see if there is something else going on that we're not aware of.

In the mean time you can try installing the 3.0 Branch dev XPI and see if that helps.
You can try installing the 3.0 Branch dev XPI, which is very close to what 3.0.12 will be. (To avoid continuing to get dev versions, you can either switch back to 3.0.11 afterward or make a note to do so once 3.0.12 is out.)
  • I have downloaded it, but how can I install it on Zotero standalone?
  • You'll have to install it as a Firefox extension. There is no beta version of Zotero Standalone. Unfortunately, if you don't want to use Firefox, you would have to wait until 3.0.12 is officially released to see if your issue is fixed.
  • Ok. Btw, I have not been blocked by Google Scholar, so the problem is elsewhere...
  • Pretty sure it's the same problem as the other thread. Google blocks on a bunch of things—cookies, etc.—not just IP address.
  • I will try again tomorrow. In any case, this is very annoying. When one install Zotero for the first time it's normal that one has to retrieve a lot of metadata at a time.
  • Indeed, now it works. It was a block of GS.
