Change to Springer Author Date

First a thanks for the work that goes into making these styles!

I've noticed that the in-text citations using the Springer Author Date style list multiple citations in alphabetical order rather than in order by year (older first).

Is there a way that I can change this while adding citations, or does this need to change in the citation style code?

Thanks
  • It would be best to do this in the citation style. If you can document this either in the instructions for authors or in a journal article following these instructions we can change that.

It is possible to manually sort the citation in the dialog (i.e. to keep them sorted in the order in which you add them) by unchecking the "Keep Sources Sorted" option, which you see by clicking on the small arrow to the left of the quick format citation box.
  • Thanks for your response. This is in the instructions for authors. (I've taken a screen shot but can't see how to upload it to this discussion board.)

For example, this is indicated in the instructions for authors at the site:

    http://www.springer.com/life+sciences/ecology/journal/10980

You have to click on the instructions for authors link on the right, and scroll through to the References section and then it says

"Multiple citations with text (…… Gardner et al 1987; Wiens 1989; Zonneveld 1995; Jelinski and Wu 1996; Mladenoff and Baker 1999)"
