Space before author in IEEE

Does anyone know why the IEEE and IEEE with URL styles insert a space before the author's name in the bibliography? For me, the extra space makes the bibliography entries not quite line up on the left side. I downloaded the CSL file and removed the 'prefix=" "' attribute from <text macro="author" prefix=" " suffix=", "/> (line 190) and it works perfectly for me...but is there something I should be doing differently so I don't have to modify the CSL?

I confirmed that this happens when I create a new blank document and insert references and a bibliography. I'm using Zotero 3.0.11.1 standalone with Word 2011 for Mac OS 10.8.2.

Thanks

  • that's a bug in the style - might go back to an earlier version of the CSL processor that didn't handle second-field-align as elegantly. We'll fix this, thanks for letting us know.
  • fixed on the repo.
The style fix is now up. It will appear on the repository at www.zotero.org/styles within 30mins
    Any problems let use know.
  • Great! Thanks! I was just about to leave a comment about the blank space inserted at the beginning of the references in the IEEE style.

P.S., What am I supposed to so with the code at www.zotero.org/styles? I have checked and I have the latest Standalone version ... but I still have the blank space showing up in front of the each of the sources in the references section.

  • I was just coming back to leave a note to say NM, that I found it. Thanks for your help :-)

I'm getting the blank space in front of the reference in Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on.

Thanks in advance for fixing this.

Update: I restarted Standalone and re-did the steps. It looks like I've successfully worked it out and the space has disappeared. Thanks again.
