In-line clickable references (a feature in Readcube) would be pretty helpful!
See the last feature in the web page:
http://www.readcube.com/#features

It is rather convenient that when you add a paper to your zotero library, you can get access to all the references of this paper with only a single cilck.
  • If I see that correctly, that's a feature of their PDF reader, though, no?
  • When we tested ReadCube this feature only worked with articles from Nature Publishing Group.
  • For adamsmith:
I don't think so. Readcube is an Adobe Air app, and its pdf reader is probably using some kind of pdf module provided by the Adobe Air platform. The clickable references feature is based on the cooperation between the article provider and Readcube's developers, while the details remain unknown.

    For DWL-SDCA:
Based on my experience, it works with most papers published recently(maybe in the last 15 years), regardless of its publishing group. The reason is that Readcube's group tried to gain cooperation with all popular article providers.

The problem is: if this kind of cooperation can be used by zotero successfully and, of course, legally?

By the way, I am amazed at the active state of this forum, for this post is replied in 2 hours. Awesome! Probably it is the power of open source.
  • right, but what I mean is this: it's a feature that's embedded in Readcube's PDF reader - which I don't really see happening any time soon, considering that Zotero doesn't have its own PDF reader.
I don't know exactly how the feature works, but it also seems like it'd require downloading data on the items cited, which isn't anywhere on the menu for Zotero.
  • @adamsmith
Agree, enabling this feature need some work. Personally, the most useful feature of Readcube is this in-line clickable references. Hope it could be taken into use in zotero.
