Update to standalone (Ubuntu)
On first run this morning, the standalone version reported availability of an update to 3.0.7, then hung on a screen trying to contact the update server. The update file is on the site, but the web site still links to 3.0.6 (just change the ".6" to ".7" on the link).
On second run, got "Unable to update" "you do not have system permissions" - that is correct, as the user running Zotero cannot change files in the installation folder (/opt/Zotero_linux-i686/).
No response needed, just thought this may be useful information...

"Unable to update. A recommended security an stability update is available, but you do not habe the system permission required to install it. Please contact your system administrator..."
Is there anybody who could play this roll?...
Best wishes

It sounds like you may have installed Zotero on your administrator account - though I'm not sure how that might have happened.
(This also isn't related to the original post, which was about Linux. Better to start a new thread unless you're absolutely sure you have the exact same issue.)
Maybe I should totally change to another programme and try to export my data...

though in general your data will not get lost if you delete & re-install Zotero.
I now combined it with mendeley inkluding apps for iphone and ipad - and for the moment I think it works.
