Zotero 3.0.11 on Firefox 17.0.1 not working. No library listings, no syncing.

When I click the Zotero icon on the bottom of my Firefox browser, and then I click the sync icon a little red exclamation icon appears. WhenI click the red exclamation icon, I get an error message:

Component returned failure code: 0xc1f30001 (NS_ERROR_NOT_INITIALIZED) [nsICollation.compareString]

Disable your other Firefox extensions, restart Firefox, and try again. If you still get an error, provide another Report ID.

Disabled other FF extensions, restarted FF. Still got this error msg:

That does not appear to be with all other extensions disabled.

I think there's something wrong with my FF. When I go to Tools>Add-Ons to list all my add-ons, nothing appears to be listed. I've been trying to disable my add-ons manually (e.g., firebug).

Yeah, from the error report it looks like there's a general problem with add-ons in your Firefox installation. Try closing Firefox, deleting the extensions.* files from your Firefox profile directory, and restarting Firefox.

I deleted the extensions folder in the profile directory. Emptied the trash. Restarted FF. Reinstalled Zotero.

Got the same error msg:

Did you delete the extensions.* files? I wasn't referring to the directory.

Apparently not. I deleted the directory. I will try again.

I'd also try deleting sessionstore.*.

If that doesn't help, I'd create a new Firefox profile and move your Zotero data directory to that. Assuming that works better, you can move your other old Firefox data over (though I'd do it piece by piece to make sure you don't copy whatever's broken).

I booted in safe mode and still no success. I am wondering if I should completely delete FF and do a clean reinstall of FF.

I also tried Zotero standalone app and it too is not syncing. Here's the info:

Did you try the suggestions in the linked Apple support thread? According to the other Zotero user in the thread Simon links to, this is a problem in OS X, not Zotero. (You were having other problems in your Firefox installation, but you likely fixed those if you deleted the files above.)

to be clear - the solution that worked for the Zotero user is _not_ booting in safe mode but:

Select  ▹ System Preferences ▹ Language & Text ▹ Format ▹ Region: your country. Then try the Date & Time preference pane again.
