Modifying importation parameters

Hi yall,

I'm new to Zotero and using it standalone with Chrome and Word. I am currently retrieving newspaper articles (from NY Times) on Proquest and citing them in a paper using Chicago ref. I have several parameters I'd need to change:
-author and first title of of the article appear in block - EMMA HARRISON, “LSD DRUG FOUND TO AID CHILDREN: Psychotic Effects Noted in Adults Are Not Detected,”
-I don't need the place of publication to appear each time - New York, N.Y., United States
-I need to indicate the access date 15 before the URL - accessed 15 December 2012
Is there an easy way of changing this?
Apologies if this topic is already open somewhere else. Many thanks!
Chris
  • the second and third issue are an issue of the citation style - we have almost 800 different one at zotero.org/styles (also searchable under http://editor.citationstyles.org/about/ ) find one you like.

We can look at the author - the title you have to manually adjust (right-click on it to convert to all title or sentence case - we recommend the latter).
IIRC proquest provides permalinks to items - could you give us one?

    Thanks for that.
I looked up zotero.org/styles and found it. What do I do with it?

Here's the URL of the article:

    Cheers,

  • Find a citation style you like and install it:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/styles#installing_additional_styles
I'll have a look at the Proquest import.

Installed it, but still the same problem of having the place and date parehtesised: (New York, N.Y., United States, February 17, 1962), which is not Chicago style for newspaper articles.
Also, the page number does not appear.
    Any ideas?
  • Chicago Manual suggests to not use page numbers for Newspaper articles (cf. CMoS 16th ed. 14.203). The date/city looks wrong though, I'll look at fixing that but likely not in the next day or two.
  • Cool, thanks for that.
  • actually, I had to fix some other things in CMoS, so:
The style is now fixed. The updated version will appear on the repository within 30mins (check the timestamp). Update your copy of the style by re-installing it from the repository. (See here if you need instructions for installing styles in standalone.)
Any further problems please let us know.
  • Just tried it. Looks like it works now.
    Thanks!
