ISBN issue

Hi everyone,

Had a query in regards to ISBN numbers.

I love being able to enter an ISBN number in order to create bibliographies, however, what do I put when the ISBN number ends with an X. Several of my recent books have an X at the end of the 10 digit number instead of a number, what should I put? I have tried just putting an X but it does not work.

Thanks,
Logan
  • I assume you're using the "Add Item by Identifier" button when you write "it does not work."
Does it work with other ISBNs? "X" is a valid character: http://www.isbn.org/standards/home/isbn/us/isbnqa.asp#Q5
  • and could you provide a couple of ISBN that aren't working?
  • Sorry Gracile, yes it is while using the 'Add Item by Identifier' button.

I have been able to add items using ISBN's that do not end with an X it is only books that end with an X that has issues such as.

    080102630X
    080541116X
    091746303X

A few examples I could find. The most recent ones that I have had issues with have been returned to the library already.

  • thanks for letting us know - there's currently a bug where we remove the "X" from the ISBN searchstring. We'll fix that for the next Zotero version.
  • actually it was simpler- this is fixed now
The translator fix is now up. Your version of Zotero will automatically update within 24hs, or you can update manually using the "Update Now" button in the "General" tab of the Zotero preferences.

    Any problems let us know.
