Error ID 1521568981 - OpenOffice extension will not install

Zotero is fine in Firefox; but trying to install the extension in OpenOffice produces the message "An error occurred installing Zotero OpenOffice/Neo Office/LibreOffice Integration" with advice to check OpenOffice is closed and try again.

Neither that nor anything else I have tried - including re-installing zotero in Firefox, and re-installing OpenOffice - has worked. A Zotero toobar appears in OpenOffice Writer, but none of the buttons responds.

Any help would be appreciated
  • Thanks, Simon.
I had tried to follow the advice on Zotero support as you suggest, but without success; but I tried it again, paying more attention to the error messages - and in the end noticed a reference to a Java error. Following the links from here got me to
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50371, where there's lots of advice that's pretty scary to a non-techie like myself.
Doing a complete strip-out of Java, including messing with regedit (as advised in Comment 15 on that page), is a bit daunting.

But then I noticed (comment 18) a description of an error with OpenOffice Help's Find funtcion - which is an error I've experienced too. So I tried just the solution suggested to that error - delete "javasettings_Windows_x86.xml".

And it worked!! With just that tweak, Both the Help - Find function, and Zotero (once re-installed by the standard process that hadn't worked before), now work just fine!

Sorry for lengthy response - but I'm very pleased!
