ingentaconnect translater

Hi, the ingentaconnect (www.ingentaconnect.com) translater either does not work or was never implemented (or I am making something wrong). When I want to add the citation information of an article, I have to use the "Save to Zotero (Embedded RDF)" button which saves the article as a Website neglecting the article specific information such as volume and issue.
Example article: http://columbia.library.ingentaconnect.com/content/asoca/asr/2008/00000073/00000002/art00002

Best
  • I just tried the article you linked to and it worked fine. Try the "update now" button in your preferences pane.
  • I've had similar problems with IngentaConnect: usually the issue number was missing (the volume number was always ok) and the URL to the article got mangled up (example: http:www.ingentaconnect.com-content-asoca-asr-2008-00000073-00000002-art00002 instead of http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/asoca/asr/2008/00000073/00000002/art00002).

I tested this with the article mentioned by jodler but it happened also with a couple of other IngentaConnect references that I wanted to save to my library. The problem wasn't consistent though.

An update of the translators didn't solve it and it didn't make a difference either whether I was visiting IngentaConnect via my University's VPN Client or not.

I'm running Zotero 1.0.6r2905 in Firefox 3.0 on Mac OS 10.5.3.
  • A update to the ingentaconnect translator was pushed out recently. Your copy of Zotero should auto-update within 24 hours, or you can update manually by clicking Update Now in the General pane of the Zotero prefs.

To open the preferences pane click the gear icon, this will open the actions dropdown menu. Select preferences from that dropdown menu.
  • Thanks for the update. The URL gets imported properly now. However, the number still doesn't show up in the issue field of Zotero. Is this a expected behavior or a bug?
  • This URL doesn't import:
    http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/lwish/nf/2003/00000049/00000001/art00005
I tried updating the translators, but not luck.
  • A fix was recently pushed out for this issue. Your copy of Zotero should auto-update within 24 hours, or you can update manually by clicking Update Now in the General pane of the Zotero prefs.

To open the preferences pane click the gear icon, this will open the actions dropdown menu. Select preferences from that dropdown menu.
  • Updated my translators, but it still won't import. I just get the blank square and then nothing.
  • A additional fix was pushed out last night. Your copy of Zotero should auto-update within 24 hours, or you can update manually by clicking Update Now in the General pane of the Zotero prefs.
  • That did it, thanks.
  • Ingentaconnect is not working for me. On this page, I get a note created with the title of the article and author, but it does not include the name of the journal, date, pages, etc.

    Having problems with Ingenta again:

    http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/brill/hm/2005/00000013/00000004

Zotero doesn't seem to be recognising this page at all: there is no Z-symbol to import the references

scrub that, is working now. Strange. But good.
  • The Ingenta Connect translator is not working as of 9/1/10.
  • The Ingenta Connect translator is still not working (2010-10-04). Update coming our way any time soon?
  • Two things I've noticed so far-- First, the IngentaConnect translator isn't in my version of Zotero, so I had to copy it from the Zotero SVN repository. Second, article pages won't load for me at all on IngentaConnect right now [1], so I can't yet make any progress on this. If they haven't removed RIS export, it should be an easy fix.

[1] Specifically, "Unexpected Error Sorry. We are unable to display the page you requested at this time." Probably not being caused by Zotero, but rather in fact an error on their side.
  • I see the same error for loading articles. It seems to be specific to Firefox, no cockups in IE or Chrome, everything works just fine.
