New laptop won't work with Zotero?

I recently got a new MacBook Pro and now my Zotero is giving me an error message every time I try to use the Word Plug-In. I have the latest version of Zotero installed on my Mac (Zotero 3.0.11) and the latest Mac plug-in (Zotero Word for Mac Integration 3.5.6). But every time I try to use the Word plug-in (and yes, the icon is there in the toolbar and Firefox is running) I get an error message that says 1728- Zotero Integration Error. I need Zotero for my work because my entire research team uses it. I am also very dependent on it for my personal research. HELP!!!!

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the plug-in. I can drag citations into the Word document but that's it.

Hmm. Try downloading the previous version of the Word plugin and see if it fixes the issue (or gives you a different error message).

Okay, I downloaded 3.5.5 and there is a difference though not a positive one. I don't get an error message, but I don't get anything else either. First I clicked on Set Document Preferences. I was automatically switched from Word to Firefox but the usual box didn't come up to select preferences. The same thing happened if I pushed "Add citation." At least I'm not getting an error box...

Do you have any other ideas about what I can try? I am currently writing three papers on my 2006 laptop so that I can have access to a functioning Zotero while doing research on my 2012 MacBook Pro. I need to figure out how to make the Word plug-in work on my new laptop. Installing the 3.5.5 version did not solve the problem. :(

Try generating a debug ID for what happens when you try to insert a citation with 3.5.5.

This was caused by a bug in Office 2008 and/or Migration Assistant, which you probably used to transfer Office from your old computer to your new one. See http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#error_with_word_2008_after_using_migration_assistant

Thanks for continuing to look into this. I managed to secure a copy of Microsoft 2011 from my research team, and my Zotero is working fine now.
