Storing pdf's locally

Hi,

I am using Zotero Standalone with a Google Chrome connector. When I save a citation, I would like to pdf of the document to be saved to my local drive, not to my Zotero profile.

How do I do this?

Thanks
  • PDFs do save locally if they're saved at all. If there is not a local copy, it will not sync to zotero.org (and you'd have to have enabled file syncing for them to sync).
  • Thanks. What I don't understand then is why one citation takes so much space to store? On average, each citation that I store uses a little over 1MB of my storage space available in Zotero. The result is that I can only store about 100 citations within the freely allocated space. If it's not a copy of the PDF, what's taking up so much space?

    Thanks.
  • Zotero _also_ stores a copy of your PDFs and snapshots online if you have file syncing turned on (as noksagt says, those files will always be saved locally):
Read here on syncing in general
    http://www.zotero.org/support/sync
and see here on how to turn file syncing off:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/preferences/sync

note that regardless of whether your 100MB are filled up you can continue using Zotero as well as continue syncing your citation data.
