pb with reference management when stored in the document

Dear Zotero users,

I am writing a book chapter with a co-worker. We both have Zotero and decided to work with Word 2007 and insert the reference in the document so that we can work separately on our parts.

Unfortunately I can no longer insert references now that he has added his. I always get the message "This item no longer exists in your Zotero database. Do you want to select a substitute item?" , whereas the same document works fine on my colleague's computer and he is able to insert new references even if some of mine are not in his database.

What should I do to be able to work on the document?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Myriam
  • See which reference Zotero highlights when it displays that message.
    In Word, press alt+F9 to display the field code (you'll know it when you see it - a bunch of code-y looking stuff with "CITATION" and "ZOTERO" in it. Copy & paste the field code of that citation here so we can have a look.
  • The first reference highlights, it is one my coworker inserted. The field code of this reference is :

    ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"1bflprqsf1","properties":{"formattedCitation":"[1]","plainCitation":"[1]"},"citationItems":[{"id":3401,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/171255/items/XIU3EVMJ"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/users/171255/items/XIU3EVMJ"]}],"schema":"https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json"}
  • There's a bug with storing references in documents with numbered citations in Zotero 3.0.8. It will be fixed in Zotero 3.0.9, which will be out by the end of the week. For now, if you click the refresh button on the Zotero toolbar before sending the document, it will ensure that the document contains the reference information.
