inserting citations

When I try to insert citations (am using google chrome and stand alone) zotero shows my list of possible citations, allows me to choose which ones I want but then enters the word "citation" in parenthesis without showing the actual citation and it gives me a bar across the middle of the screen (has a drop down that that has the choices "keep sources sorted" and "classic view"). when I select sources and try to enter into the text section of the bar the bar gets a revolving blue and white bar that won't shut off, have to turn off computer! Could use some assistance, thanks.
  • I'm not sure if you're misunderstanding something or if things just aren't working, so let me tell you what you _should_ see:
    1. You click insert citation
    2. Zotero lets you select the citation style
    3. You see the read quick look bar
    4. you type something in the bar to find your citation - Zotero will search authors, titles, and years
    5. Zotero will present you with a list of titles that match your search
    6. you select the one you want by clicking on it
    7. You press Return/Enter to insert the citation and leave the insert citation dialog

  • Attempting to use In-Text Citation, This is the error message I am getting:
Item 1 in this citation no longer exists in your Zotero database. Do you want to select a substitute item?
Clicking "No" will delete the field codes for citations containing this item, preserving the citation text but deleting it from your bibliography.
    Yes - No - Cancel

    What is that????
  • Renana - start a new thread, please. Presumably this isn't happening in a new document? Provide some more details on the document your working on.
  • When I click the zotero tool bar to insert a citation, my word document minimizes rather than opening the insert citation quick look bar. Error #: 38314205
  • same request - please start a new thread, we're trying to keep different issues separate. In that thread, also provide the Word version you're using.
