cannot move anything from my library to group library

  • no, Zotero just takes some more time to check for changes in a bigger database, they don't all sync.
  • ok thanks:) it's been going at it for over an hour so I was getting worried.

Going at what? You don't have anything queued on the server right now, and no data uploads of yours have taken more than 30 seconds today.

Are you referring to file syncing? If so, you can hover over the blue bar to view progress.
  • Yes, I was referring to file syncing. I was indeed looking at the blue bar, it was stuck at partially complete for hours (including by the next morning). However, that same next morning when I looked at the site, it had uploaded the items...even though the local blue bar was still "stalled". For the previous ones, the progress bars also took several moments, from what I could see on my local zotero (which sounds like it does not match the 30 seconds that it actually took?).

So there is some sort of disconnect between my local zotero and the site?

What's the next step to try to figure out what is going on?

P.S. I will be traveling for the next week so my responses may be intermittent. Thank you.
  • OK, let's be very clear. There are two separate parts of syncing, data syncing and file syncing, which you can read about in the sync documentation.

Data syncing is what, as far as I know, we've been talking about for this whole thread. The items you see on zotero.org are from data syncing, unless you actually go into an item and try to view the attachment file. All the talk above about having a huge number of items, queued uploads stalled on the server, resetting the server, importing items in batches, syncs being all or nothing, the sync durations—all of that has been about data syncing.

File syncing involves the blue progress bar, and the speed of that will depend on your upload speed. You can start and stop it as much as you want, and you can follow progress by hovering over the blue bar. When you restart it, it will pick up where it left off. There might be a few cases where that can stall, and that's more likely with a huge number of files to upload, but if that happens you can just click the stop button and restart it, or restart Firefox/Zotero.

So, given all that, can you confirm that you now see all of your items on the server and are now concerned solely with file syncing?
