Zotero does not appear with Apache OpenOffice tool bar 12.04 Ubuntu

Zotero seems to be working fine in LibreOffice and in LyX.

In OpenOffice the tool bar is not appearing. I followed the instructions in the trouble shooting section and reinstalled the LibreOffice/OpenOffice plug-in with no success.
I noticed in one Ubuntu forum screen shot (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Zotero) that the Zotero menu is at the bottom of the page. This makes me wonder if I am simply not opening a tool bar? The LibreOffice icons for Zotero are at the top left of the page as they are, if I recall correctly, in OOo in Windows 7.

I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

    the toolbar in Ooo should be in the same place as in LO.
    Why do you want to use both Ooo and LO?
    You may have to manually install the plugin for Ooo. My guess would be that Zotero's auto install finds the LO start-up folder and is content.

    Why AOO? Mainly just interest. I am a long time user of OOo and while LO is fine, there are occasional differences and from my reading of the OOo forums they sometimes are complimentary. So I thought I'd like to have both.

    I suppose I should have thought of Zotero just going for the one wp folder.

    Since I am pretty much a Linux newbie, can you point me to any instructions on a manual install. I seem to remember some time ago that there was a Zotero.oxt file to install but I don't see anything obvious in my googling for a recent oxt file.

    If you re-install word processor components from the Cite tab of the Zotero preferences, right before the automatic install there will be a "Manually Install" option at the bottom that includes instructions and automatically opens Nautilus to the Zotero.oxt file you'll need.
