Can't save from website to library

I have a relatively old mac book (10.5.8) and have downloaded Zotero. When I go to a supported webpage like Amazon then even though there is a button I cannot press it - is grey rather than active. I have also downloaded the Safari connector.

I have tried resetting translators in Zotero. When I did then the button got a line going across it but when I re-downloaded the connector for Safari then the line went but I still cannot press it.

I am obviously up to date software wise with 3.0 and the 'Check for Updates' confirms this.

When I go to Safari preferences the extension is there and it doesn't note any errors.

Could it be anything to do with my computer being too old to support the program? Any way to resolve the problem and I would be very grateful.
  • Provide example URLs.
  • I have downloaded Firefox and Zotero that is compatible with that and now things seem to be working ok.

    Thanks.
  • Hi I have just downloaded Zotero to Safari and the button to the left of the address bar works when I reach a site that it translates from. This good.

However, I do not have an icon in the address bar and there is no Zotero link at the bottom left of the screen for me to download links from the website. I am not sure if some of the guidance is for Firefox only. Am I messing something?
    Thanks
  • @Ann - I'm sure some of the documentation is still focused on Firefox (where is that particular bit?) but you can import non-supported pages using the connector for Chrome and Safari just right-click (ctrl+click) anywhere in the page and select "Take Zotero Snapshot from page.

I was looking at the video link guidance above

AND your suggestion works - onwards to the next challenge

    Thanks

    Ann
  • thanks - yes, all screencasts on the website were made with Zotero for Firefox and before Standalone even existed, so anything that works differently in Standalone won't be in the videos.
