    In that case I'd use Emu as the basis and create dependent styles for other CSIRO journals. The Emu style has a couple of advantages, e.g. it uses smart single quotes as opposed to the straight ones your style has.

    The citation style appears to be the same; however, the bibliographic style is different. As you can see from the notes in the style, I started from Climatic Change and modified to meet IJWF guidelines (see the examples given at http://www.publish.csiro.au/nid/117/aid/424.htm . Look at the prepare your manuscript section. I'm not sure what the advantages of smart single quotes versus straight ones are. This is the 1st time I've tried to use CSL so brute force is the only approach I know (also had to learn to read XML in the process). I'm willing to see if smart single quotes produce the same result. Where can I find information on them? If I started with Emu, I suspect that I would need to make more changes than I made to Climatic Change to accommodate the unique style that IJWF uses.

    It's easy enough to change the smart quotes for you, but I'm curious how you consider IJWF different from Emu:
    I see the authors are in a different format, but everything else looks the same, no?

    if you're curious: smart quotes are set in Zotero using quotes="true" as an attribute. The main advantage - beyond the fact that they look better typographically - of that is that it will play nicely in cases where quotations are contained in the title as in
    ´Should you yell “Fire!” in a crowded forest?´

    They are similar except for periods. I also referred to a recent issue of the journal and found that reports have a specific format for IJWF and I don't know what the report format is in Emu. I'm not opposed to using Emu, I just don't have a lot of time to make changes to a different template. What are the pros and cons of starting from Emu versus starting from Climatic Change which had about 80% of the style that I was looking for to start with? I am ultimately interested in having a style that I and other IJWF authors can use which is where I think we are with the proposed style. Since this is all new to me, I don't know the protocols other than what I read on the website. If programming efficiency that is the goal, I am all for that. What's the next step? If you can modify Emu to meet IJWF needs, I am all for that. I am satisfied I have a working style for a journal I publish in frequently. Anything improvements and benefits to other authors are gravy at this point.

    The style is up. It will show up on the repository within 30mins. It may take up to a day for the preview to work.
    If you want to update the style in the future, please always start with the version on the repository, since we usually touch up some formatting etc.

    Have a look at the slight edits I made - I removed a lot of prefix and suffix an replaced them by groups for stability (otherwise things will look wrong when data is missing). I also use smart quotes.
