Firefox Tabs

Windows 7. Firefox 15.0.1.
Every time I click on a Zotero item the pdf files opens in a new window, which is exactly what I want. At the same time, however, it creates an empty new tab in Firefox browser. How do I stop this empty new tabs from happening?

    please follow up in your original post, no need to create a new one. There you mention "settings" that make PDFs open in a new window - Dan asks you which settings these are, you never answer that question.

    edit: and what Gracile asks.

    Firefox>Options>Options>Tabs> Open new windows in a new tab instead.

    This is the only setting I have tried. Whether is checked or unchecked still created a new empty tab when I open a Zotero pdf item.

    I believe if you set the launchNonNativeFiles hidden pref to true:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/preferences/hidden_preferences
    this behavior may change - not 100% sure though.
    This isn't a bug, btw - it's exactly the same thing Firefox will do when you open a PDF from a webpage.

    The answer is yes.
    I tried opening a pdf from MyDocuments folder and it does not happen.

    Gracile meant opening a link to PDF in firefox. Like this: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf

    It's more likely than not your PDF viewer's fault (which I can't find on google. Go PDF Viewer does not seem to exist)

    Edit: I shouldn't say that it doesn't exist... There's one review on it, but no links to the developer's website.

    That was it Adamsmith. I changed launchNonNativeFiles to True.
    Awesome. No more empty tabs when opening a Zotero pdf file.

    Now that I changed the setting Adam suggested and click on the link you sent me the only thing that happens is that it opens a pdf file with no empty tabs in Firefox or anything else. By the way, looks like an interesting book to read. Thanks.
