hi - my mac book is older so the standalone is not an option. have an account with the firefox supported version, and the little zotero page icon shows up to the right of the URL offering to save the citation but after I click it (and it seems to be saving) nothing appears in my library. ?

After you clikk on the url icon to download the article, does an information box appear in the lower right part of your screen? What text appears there, if any?
To be sure that we are understanding one another, the "library" contains all of your articles, reports, chapters, etc. The library contains everything in your "collections" that are listed in the left column below the library name and above the Zotero trash. Are you looking in a collection or in your library?
yeah, a box appears in the lower R hand corner, "saving item".

Version: 3.0.8 for Firefox (3.7 MB, Firefox extension)
On: iBook G4 running OS 10.4.11
thanks...i'm pretty sure i'm prob just missing something super simple here.
And which Firefox version is that?
firefox version = 3.6.17
uhm. You shouldn't be using that. It's very, very outdated and very, very, unsafe.
The problem is that your data is not syncing:
http://www.zotero.org/support/sync
first upgrade firefox, make sure that your username and password are set in Zotero (in the preferences under sync) and Zotero is set to sync automatically. Your items should then appear online shortly
If they don't, see here:
http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/changes_not_syncing
and follow up.
