Problem concerning file syncing!

Hello

well, I have a big problem concerning library-syncing. The local folder does not sync all files with the online group library. how is it possible to sync one specific local folder on to the online-folder/library and not the other way around?

The second problem is that the display of libraries differs from the owner and the two admins: the owner sees 1593 references on his screen while the admins see 1620 references on their respective screens, but evidently in the same folder.

thank you

  • Please do not use exclamation mark in topic. It is considered shouting and a bit rude.

You cannot choose which collections are synced. It is all or nothing.

Double check that both have synced their Zoteros. The number of references should be the same.
  • I am sorry for this. I didn't mean to be personal but I was in a hurry.

I am - as the owner of the group - the only one who has the local file on the computer. So I am the only one who can sync the libraries, right?
It is obvoius that the both administrators can't sync as they don't have the local file on their computer, but they also see a different list of references, and that is our main problem.
To solve this, we thought to delete the online library and then upload it again from the local file. However, in doing so, zotero deleted the local file by syncing the other way around (luckily we have a copy of the local file). Up to now, I always uploaded updates from the local file on to the online library, and it always worked. Is there anything that we should change in settings as this does not seem to be a technical mistake?

    thank you

if you delete items anywhere in Zotero and then sync they'll be deleted on all computers with that Zotero account - that's why it is called "syncing" - it keeps the account in sync - so Zotero did what it was expected to do. If you want to replace the online version of your library with the local one, use "Restore to Server" from the sync-->reset tab in the Zotero preferences, though it sounds like you'll be able to solve this with less brute-force type methods.

Also, make sure the reference lists are actually different - IIRC there is a quirk in how items in groups are counted that may lead to different counts.
