Buttons to process selected text

Could there be 'add as author', 'add as title' etc. buttons to allow selected text on a browsed page to be passed directly to the relevant field of an item? This would speed up the process of manually adding a reference from a page.

    That's an interesting idea.

    I don't think we'd add interface buttons for this, but I could definitely see us offering this capability in the page's context (i.e. right-click) menu, either with a few specific fields (author, title, etc.) or with a dynamic submenu with all the visible fields in the item type of the currently selected item, allowing you to quickly assign the selected text to a field.

    Such an approach would also be quite useful for quickly grabbing text snippets as attached notes.
