problem syncing library on new computer

I am trying to use Zotero on two computers. On the old computer it works fine. On the new computer it will not sync. I have received the message, "Empty response from server. Please try again in a few minutes." several times now. I tried syncing from the standalone -- uninstalled it, reinstalled it, and I have tried from the online version [uninstalled and reinstalled] and I still cannot sync with my library.
  • I still am getting the same error message. Is there something that I can do? Thanks
  • Error report ID 1944643674
  • This might be due to security software on the system or a problem with the network (if you're trying on the new computer from a different network).

If you provide a Debug ID we might be able to provide more information, but if you are running security software, try disabling it.
  • (Your Zotero client on the new computer is trying to download your full library, and it looks like for some reason the connection is being interrupted. As an alternative, if you can't get the sync to go through, you could follow the Transferring a Library instructions and just copy the Zotero data directory to the new computer (e.g., using a flash drive).)
  • The Debug ID is D1520012867

I tried to disable the security software, but that didn't seem to help. I'll see if I can get a flash drive to try to copy the library onto this computer.
  • I was able to copy the library by using a flashdrive. Thanks. My only backup was through Time Machine, so this just reminds me that I need to make a separate backup, especially with multiple computers. Thanks again.
  • (Time Machine is a perfect way to backup Zotero, I don't see a reason for something separate).
