TAGS

can you remove a tag once it has been created? I have made a few typos along the way and would like to remove these incorrect tags.
  • You can remove them individually from items in the Tags tab in the right-hand pane or you can right-click on them in the tag selector in the bottom left and either rename (including to an existing tag) or delete them from all items.
  • Thanks for your response Dan, but this does not explain the "how" part. I know where to find my tags. Right-clicking on tags does not provide option to delete. Neither does highlighting the tag and hitting "delete" key. I also tried to drag the tag into the "Trash" to no avail. None of these typical methods worked.

    HELP!
  • Are you working in the Tag selector pane (bottom left pane?)...not the right pane where the tags are for an individual item?
  • Yes I am working in the bottom left pain. I just want to delete some tags but nothing is working.
  • right-click on any tag in the tag selector on the bottom left should bring up a "delete tag / rename tag" context menu (and does for me).
Could you double check again that it doesn't?

We can't do anything with "nothing is working"—you'll have to be more specific.

Also, are you using the Zotero client, or are you trying to do this on the website?

OK, I just understood what you meant about website/client page. Thanks. Problem solved!

That's what I figured. For what it's worth, if you're doing real work in Zotero, you really want to be using the client (and that's what everyone here will assume you're using if you don't specify).
