Zotero icons do not appear in Firefox

I have a new computer. I just downloaded Zotero stand alone on to the new computer as first step in using it again. The Zotero icon does not appear in the bottom right corner of Firefox, nor do icons appear when I got to Amazon or the library catalog as the did on my previous computer. I have restarted the computer, and through following guidelines on the website found an error report, ID # 867052407, Failed to load native module at path 'C:\Program Files\Zotero Standalone\extensions\zoteroWinWordIntegration@zotero.org\components-12.0\zoteroWinWordIntegration.dll': (80520012) <unknown; can't get error from NSPR>

I assume this is the cause of my problems. What do I do?
Mark
  • That error is benign. Did you install Zotero for Firefox?
  • No, I installed Zotero standalone as I had before on my previous computer.

You need to install Zotero for Firefox to get Zotero functionality in Firefox, even if you have Zotero Standalone installed.
  • Simon,

Thank you very much. I now see that I read this line:

"Zotero Connectors allow you to save items to Zotero from within browsers other than Firefox, using Zotero's site translators."

and since that did not apply I skipped the rest of the section and missed this line:

"To use Zotero Standalone with Firefox, install Zotero 3.0 for Firefox, available above. It will automatically switch into connector mode when Zotero Standalone is opened."
