COins Site Translator

Hello i am a graduate student doing my independent research on citations and my experience about Zotero has being great while working with the metadata around.
But last week i came across a bug on the following library research page:
http://asu.summon.serialssolutions.com/search?s.q=drone+attacks
i am trying to fetch the data from the result page and it is not giving me the proper result data. For e.g. i require the 'Content Type' for all the result page for Drone attacks which it doesn't return, instead it shows [Journal Article] as item type for all the result set. I tried fixing it myself by rewriting translator similar to proquest which i think works properly as the item doesn't fall back to default Item type i.e Journal Article but it still didn't work.
  • This isn't a Zotero bug, but a limitation of COinS. All Records on that page have:rft_val_fmt=info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:journalMany haverft.genre=news...which could potentially identify the item type. But it isn't valid. The specification enumerates: journal, issue, article, conference, proceeding, preprint, and unknown.

COinS is limited in many other ways, so I don't think you'll have much success in adapting it. Arguably better to make a site-specific translator fore serialsolutions & I think this has been a past request & that there might even be a bit of work in this direction.
  • Thanks for the quick response and yes also for making the correction about the bug being associated with COins i did meant the same but grammatically went wrong in explaining the problem.
  • (getting this type of serial solutions translator to work will be very tricky. It might be possible going through the RIS/Bibtex export the catalog offers, but that won't be simple.)
