Style request: Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology

Hi, I would like to submit a request for a style compatible with Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology (SPPE), a journal published by Springer, but it's style does not match to the Springer LNCS and Springer plasmonics style included in the zotero style repository.

Similar style: Springer LNCS.

Example for SPPE references:
For journal articles: Gamelin FX, Baquet G, Berthoin S, Thevenet D, Nourry C, Nottin S, Bosquet L (2009) Effect of high intensity intermittent training on heart rate variability in prepubescent children. Eur J Appl Physiol 105:731-738. doi: 10.1007/s00421-008-0955-8.
For book chapters: Brown B, Aaron M (2001) The politics of nature. In: Smith J (ed) The rise of modern genomics, 3rd edn. Wiley, New York, pp 230-257.

Link to SPPE's style guide: http://www.springer.com/medicine/psychiatry/journal/127

Differences to the Springer LNCS style: In the reference list, there is no comma following the last name of the authors, and no point following each initial. Year is following last author, no point follwoing. No punctuation mark separates the last author from the publication year. Journal pages are preceded by colon (instead of a comma).

Similarities: Within the text they should be referred to by numbers in squared brackets. In the References section of the manuscript, they should be listed by numbers. Last name is followed by initials; title of journal should be abbreviated (no points), followed by volume number and first and last page numbers of the paper.
  • OK, this will take a while, though.
If you're in a hurry, consider trying to do this yourself.

  • I can try after I am done with work; however, I am not familiar with programming and stuff, so I would highly appreciate if you could do it concurrently. Thank you so much!
  • Hi Adam, I wasn't able to modify the style; however, I found one that seems to match that one requested by Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology: it's Plos medicine. So sorry for mobilizing you, but when the journals provide a description of the style rather than the name, it is really hard to find in the repository.
  • OK, if that's good enough for you that's great - the styles are not the same though - even with a quick look I can spot a number of differences: e.g. colon instead of comma btw. place and publisher, pp with and without period, space between colon and page numbers for journal articles, ", editors" instead of (ed) etc.
  • Hm, you are right, I haven't realized that. However, I have to submit the article today. Would you mind creating the SPPE style in the meantime when it is convenient for you? It is not urgent anymore (at least not for me personally), but then I have it available for the revision version of the manuscript. Sorry for all this back and forth. And thanks so much for your time and effort.
  • sure - I should have this done in some weeks - if you haven't heard back by the time you get your article back from the editor, post a quick reminder here.
  • Hi. I also need a Zotero style for SPPE. Did the style ever get done? Thanks a lot.
  • No, it didn't. We used plos medicine and the editor requested major revisions for the article but did not (yet) complain about the citation style. The revised manuscript is still under review, so I don't know whether or not plos med will finally be accepted by the journal.
  • A correct Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology style (as far as I can tell) is now up and will appear on the repository momentarily
  • Thanks so much, Adam!
  • Thank you soooooo much, Adam. Just now that I need this and it's right here. Lissabon, thank you for starting this. I love your unselfish nature. Wishing you the best in your career. I am a senior resident (psychiatry)at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. Would appreciate it if you could keep in touch. My e mail add is seneca_tunde@yahoo.com
