IMDB doesn't [always] work

Hi,
sometimes it works
e.g.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060613/
most of the time it doesn't
e.g.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0121853/
or
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062012/
or
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066775/
etc
Am I doing something wrong?
thanks!
  • you're not doing something wrong - the interface we're using to query IMDB is quirky - I'll have a fix for this soon, hopefully.
  • Hi,

what's the progress on this? Thanks in advance!

I reported a bug with the imdbAPI - I'm waiting to see whether that is going to get fixed quickly. We can fix the translator, but then it won't import the Rotten Tomato ratings anymore - if I don't hear from them soon, that's what I'll do.
  • Sounds good to me, because I don't need the RT-ratings anyway. Please keep us informed on the progress. Thank you!
  • I never heard back from them on the API (it's an unofficial API maintained by one developer, so I can't really blame him), so I implemented the fix as described above - so no more tomatoe ratings, but this should work reliably again, now.

Zotero will update within 24hs or you can update immediately from the general tab of the Zotero preferences.
  • Has the IMDB translator stopped working recently? I used to be able to import one of my faculty member's films, but I can't get his most recent one, because no translator shows up.
  • Still works in general.
We'd need a URL to see if there may be instances that it doesn't work or whether there's something not working specifically for you.
  • Hmmm.... now I'm thinking I've got a bigger problem that I just discovered when I went to add something from ProQuest - also no translator. And EBSCO stuff isn't working either. I think my problem is the Chrome connector in general.
  • Ok, uninstalling and reinstalling the Chrome connector has brought back all my translators. Don't know what that was, perhaps a glitch in the Matrix.
