How do I use Greek characters in the titles of journal articles in Zotero library?

As a biologist I'm often citing papers talking about alpha, beta and gamma subunits etc. And using muM for micromolar etc

What command do I use to set them in the Symbol font?

I tried a for lower case alpha, but that did not work. I tried α that didn't work

If the answer is already in the knowledgebase, I apologize but i could not find it
  • Are you talking about the titles displaying in Zotero or when you're citing them in Word/LibreOffice/etc?

Either way, using α (alpha character) should work. If you're talking about citing in Word, then maybe there is something going on with the particular citation style you are using. You would have to tell us which one that is.

Also, just to make sure, what version of Zotero are you using?
  • I'm talking about having what should be greek symbols be greek symbols in the titles of articles in my zotero database, so that when I format my bibliography in word using the zotero add on, everything is as it should be without me having to manually fix everything.

    I'm using the standalone v3.07

I have tried copying and pasting from windows character map and that isn't working

My laptop doesn't have a keypad either (not even if i use the Fn key) so that is probably not an option either for typing in codes.

It should if you select a standard font and copy/paste the unicode characters, rather than using the symbol font.
  • yep. so if I copy the symbol from the times new roman set then I can get a proper alpha

If i copy from symbol font then I get just an "a"

    go figure...
  • that's because the symbol font doesn't produce/use proper utf-8. Copying from websites should work in most cases, too, btw.
