Tag removal in group library

Hi,

I am trying to clean the tags in my group library but am not able to do it. Specifically, I am not able to remove any tag from the group library.

I cleaned up all the tags in my personal computer and then synced them to the online group library. However, by checking the group library online, I found that the old tags are still there, it is just that no articles are attached to them. When I clicked these "empty tags", I found nothing that enabled me to remove them completely from the library. I want a clean set of "working tags" to appear in the left panel of the online group library. Please let me know how I can do this.

    If you delete a tag via the tag selector in the client and sync, it should purge any orphaned tags.

    I have same problem. I can delete tags from my Firefox plug-in client and sync to Zotero Server. But the tags don't go away in the web client. For me this is a critical feature. I've looked at all configuration options both on my browser plug-in client and on the Zotero server web client and cannot find a way to make the tags go away on the general web client.

    Are you deleting the tags via the tag selector? Are you looking in the same library? (Tags are library specific.)

    If you're still having trouble, sync (to clear all other sync changes) and then provide a Debug ID that covers deleting a single tag and syncing.

    Are the tags still in your online library if you open your library in a different tab? This may be a problem with the web library caching too aggressively.

    Hi there. Yes I deleted the tag using the tag selector -- right click on the tag and select 'delete tag.' This remove the tag from all items and then removes the tag from the tag selector (this is using Zotero 3.0.7 plug-in and Firefox 12. So, it's great locally for both My Library and Group Libraries. I checked that the tag was removed at the Library level, as well as the collection folder levels. Then I did a sync. On the Zotero server side, the tags are removed from items, but they still show up in the tag selector. If you click on the tag, it shows that no items match the tag. So, these are orphan tags that just wont leave the selector view.

    Update. I opened in another tab and now the problem seems to be resolved. I think the browser caching may have been an issue. I had reloaded the page many times from within the same tab, and also I logged out and logged back in. But I never opened a new browser tab. Hmm. Aggressive cache. I'll play around more to confirm. Thx.
