Author-date citation style: citation with multiple authors listed
Hi,
I am having a problem with author-date styles. There are a few references on my paper that get inserted (MSOffice2007-WinXP) as "(Author1, Author2, Author3, Author4, Author5, Author6, et al. 2011)" of course I don't want this long citation. I have tried different styles to no avail. Then I looked at the Chicago author date style on the CSL editor and it shows correctly as: "(Author1, et al. 2011)". I am running out of ideas, any suggestions?

To be sure that's what is happening, check whether, for the affected citations, the first author appears more than once, in citations with the same date. If so, that's the cause, and the disambiguation behavior will vary depending on the style used.
If you want to change the behavior, you can modify the style to produce the form you prefer, or you can stick with what the style is giving you, which is probably correct according to the style guide's rules. Post back if you need help with modifying the style.
