expository endnotes?
Is there a way to use Zotero to add an 'expository' endnote in Word (Mac OS 10.6, MSWord 2011)?
For example, if you would like to have a mixture of numbered items which include both citations and notes; or even if you wanted to add some text before what Zotero actually inserts in the bibliography for a given citation... is there a way to do this?
The footnote/endnote feature in Word doesn't keep track of what's going on in Zotero, so there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to do this. For example, let's say I have eight citations so far (which show up as superscripts 1-8 in the text), and then I want to add an endnote 9, which reads something like "See the Suporting Information for details." After that, I may want to keep adding citations (10 thru X), or I may want to have some more notes. Or I may want note 11, for example, to read something like "There seems to be some ambiguity about this issue. For a discussion, see [citation]."
Any help would be much appreciated!

You're trying to put comments in a numerical bibliography*
That's not really possible, though you can try playing with citing standalone notes.
*Chicago Manual of Style is a popular style based on Endnotes. Vancouver or Nature are common numerical citation styles. Some key differences between the two:
- If you cite three works, a numerical citation style will give you 1-3; an endnote style will put all three in one citation under one number.
- If you cite the same work again, a numerical style will refer to it with the same number, i.e. you can have 1,3,7 as a citation; an endnote style will just put it in a new endnote with a new number - endnotes are always numbered consecutively.
- In Zotero, when you use a numeric style, you will only see a number when inserting a citation. For an endnote style, Zotero will insert the full endnote right away.
I made an example for you:
