How to install modified style?
Hi,
I have a few modified styles based on already existing styles. I have a new style for Invertebrates Systematics (http://www.publish.csiro.au/nid/123/aid/428.htm#6) based on "Frontiers journals" (http://www.zotero.org/styles/frontiers). But when I am going to install it via Firefox it asks me if I want to update "frontiers", but does not recognize it as a new, different style. How can I do that (keep base style and my new one)? I tried changing the title and deleting the ID but then it does not appear in the list of styles.
Thanks!

I am trying to upload a modified MLA style to include an annotated bibliography.
I have created and validated the code
...
that ends with
<text macro="access" prefix=" "/>
<text display="block" variable="note"/>
</layout>
</bibliography>
</style>
but cannot figure out how to save it as a .cls extension or install it.
It will only allow me to save it as .txt* document.
Do I need to save the code from the validation webpage or another webpage?
Thanks

alternatively, Zotero is now kind enough to also recognize .csl.txt as a "valid" file extension for style files.
What now?
(thanks!)
The same thing happens when I put it in Firefox of Google chrome:
The webpage opens up with my code but nothing else..
I believe you should be able to install the file from the style manager in the Zotero preferences -->Cite-->styles: Click the + sign under the styles window and browse to your file.
Thanks a bunch!
I have added instructions for Standalone to

I'm looking for help in saving and installing a modified csl style: I have modified the Vancouver csl in text editor, it's working fine in the zotero test pane but I can't figure out how to open the text file in an open firefox window (I'm using zotero for firefox)
Best wishes
Kristian
Yes I tried that but I'm not shure in what window I should save: is it the modified code in the text-edit (mac os), is it the zotero reference test pane or is it a third window. None of the two former gives me the opportunity to drag-and drop a CSL style file onto firefox.
You should be able to just save the file as .csl then (by simply typing .csl) - but if you can't, rename it from Finder once it's saved.
If dragging to FF is puzzling to you, you can also install the file by going to the Cite tab in the Zotero preferences, to styles, click the + under the style box and then navigate to and select the csl style.
I have done as you said, but when I click the installation button in the cite tab nothing happens..
If Zotero asks you whether to install the style and you click "Install" you are done.
It the style doesn't show up in the list, you have probably forgotten to change the title and/or id of the style as described here:
http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step#change_the_style_title_and_id
I have solved the problem now, it was due to wrong settings in my textedit and difficulties in saving the file in the right format. Thanks for the help
and I get a successful validation.
Any ideas?
to .csl (and deleted the .rtf extension after right clicking and using
"get info"). I've double checked to make sure firefox (12.0) and
zotero (3.0.7) are both up to date. Any other ideas? Maybe I can send
the style to someone to double check that it validates?
does this work?
