Book Sections

I am trying to organize some books for studying purposes. I've added "Books" as a category. Then, I added a new book to that category. I've got all the chapters listed as book sections, but I can't move these book sections into the book inside the category. Is there a way to insert book sections into a book in a category without making a new category for each book? Thanks, Lauren

    you can use the "related" feature, but apart from that, no, you can't somehow attach a book chapter to the book it comes from. That's planned in the long-term, but won't happen anytime soon.

    Thanks so much! That's a shame, it would seem so easy. It's easy to attach child notes to a book, but you can't add book sections to a book right now. I hope that is added soon! Lauren

    notes and files don't have citation metadata of their own, so that's a completely different ballgame.

    I understand that, but why should that affect how they are filed and organized?

    because organization is linked to a database and storing a link to a file (attachment) or a bit of html code (note) just means adding a field to a database entry.
    Adding book chapters means creating hierarchical relationships between different database items, which is possible, but as I say, entirely different from a programming point of view.

    Any way to sort or organize Related Items? I can't seem to sort by alphabetical order or sort them myself. They seem very, very random in order.

    No, it's not possible. The order is chronological (first related item added is at top).
