Copying Library Folders

I am studying for two exams that share journals on their reading lists. I'd like to copy my shared journal subfolders from one exam folder to another. I have not been able to find a way to copy subfolders and their contents to other folders. Is there a way to do this? Thanks, Lauren.
  • Collections are not folders: http://www.zotero.org/support/collections
You should be able to select items from a collection and drag-and-drop them to the other collection.
  • Thanks so much. I can see how I can select items from the middle column to place into a different collection. But, I was hoping to copy the actually collections themselves. For example, I have created a collection of 15 journals. Each journal has years from 2002-2012. Each year for each journal has a subcollection of its volumes. I'd like to copy a journal's collection and subcollections and contents to a different collection for a second exam I'm studying for. I can't see how to make this happen without manually entering the names of the journal collections and subcollections over again. Thanks again, Lauren.
  • That's not currently possible (I can see how it would be useful, though).
Consider using tags for one of your sorting tasks - e.g. tag items with the name of the exam you're studying for. You will probably find it useful to set the recursive.collections hidden pref to true for that:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/hidden_prefs#general_preferences
you can tag multiple items at once by dragging them onto a tag in the tag selector on the left.
  • Okay, thanks. At least I now know that there's not a way to do that. I wish there were, though! I'm familiar with tags and have been using them, they are fantastic. Thanks again for your help. Lauren.
