[Fixed] Strange characters appearing in subsequent-author bibliography entries

After allowing zotero to update itself, zotero produces strange characters instead of ______. for authors that repeat in my bibliography.

McGinn, Bernard. Apocalypticism in the Western Tradition. Brookfield, VT: Ashgate Publishing, Variorum, 1994.

\uc0\u8212{}\uc0\u8212{}\uc0\u8212{}. The Calabrian Abbot: Joachim of Fiore in the History of Western Thought. New York: Macmillan, 1985. [Instead of _______. The Calabrian Abbot: Joachim of Fiore in the History of Western Thought. New York: Macmillan, 1985.]

I am using zotero with openoffice.

I'd just upgrade to LibreOffice and see if that makes a difference - OpenOffice has pretty much been abandoned by all developers.
  • I tried. LibreOffice did the same thing. I should add that I am using Chicago Manual of Style (full note) style.
  • Hi,

Same problem here with word mac 2011, I am also using the Chicago Manual of Style (full note) style.
  • I can reproduce this in Word 2011. Simon or Frank will have to comment.
  • Sorry for this. I'm on it.
  • This is fixed in the final refresh release of 1.0.328 (labelled "Upgrade citeproc-js to version 1.0.328 (refresh once again)" in the repo).

Apologies again for the glitch. The fault reported by Rintze and fixed by release 1.0.324 was indeed a fault, but the fix gave rise to repeated escaping of the subsequent-author-substitute string as a side effect, which I failed to notice. Ordinarily this would be caught by the processor test suite, but in this case the string is not escaped in the HTML output used for testing: it only escapes (and so was only corrupted) in the RTF output mode used by the word processor plugins.
  • Fixed in 3.0.6, available now.
