Why RTF_scan

I might no make many friends down the road, but why RTF_scan? I would gladly use Zotero scan feature if it was ODF_scan, XML_scan, Whatever_non_proprietary_format_scan.

Is there a particular technical reason to use this pale Tex mockup, vs. an open format?

    We support RTF because it enjoys wider word processor support than any other format besides plain text. While it's not an open standard, there is a published specification.

    If you would like the extend this feature to support other document formats, we would welcome your contributions. The source is in chrome/content/zotero/rtfScan.js.

    This argument sounds like Icaza promoting Mono, to me.
