Simple date sorting in reports broken?

I am lost. I've spent two hours searching the forums and documentation and can find no reason why this is an issue.

All I want is a report for my entire collection sorted by date, from oldest to newest. I have attempted this in Firefox and in the standalone version 3.0.3 on my Mac, to no avail.

Every citation has a date in the proper "y m d" format. I have selected the "Date" column so I can see that all of the citations are properly sorting in my Zotero window.

Every single time I create a report, it leaves out all of the patents. I'm not sorting on "Type" so I don't know why this is.

When I pull all of the patents out and put them in their own collection, sorted by date, I cannot get their report to sort by date properly *either*.

Please tell me what I need to do to fix this. I'm not doing anything complex; I just need a report of all citations in order by date.
  • OK, so you're specifically referring to sorting of patents here, not report sorting in general, right?

It looks like date-sorted reports in 3.0.3 aren't sorting by fields with different names that are mapped to "Date", whereas the middle column handles them properly. We should be able to fix this for 3.0.4.
  • I'm specifically referring to the sorting of a collection report that contains patents as well as journal articles and other types of citations.

Additionally, separating the patents out of that collection and putting them into their own collection, then sorting by date still yields a report that is out of order, date-wise.
  • Right, but your only issue is that the patents aren't in order. Everything else (with a standard "Date" field) is.
  • Fixed for 3.0.4, which will be available soon.
  • Thanks, Dan.
