FF 3 tag-related bug

Not sure if this is the appropriate place to report a bug, especially on the FF3 version... but, I've been working with the software and noticed a bug in the "tag tab" area on the right side. Often, when I quit and restart FF3, it'll work right once -- adding a new tag. After that, I can click 'Add' a field will pop up, I will enter something and hit enter and nothing happens.

On closer inspection, I think that the add-on may be ignoring the enter or return key. In fact, I can't type anything into the chrome area of the browser, such as the URL entering field or the google search field and hit enter. Nothing happens.
  • This was a Firefox bug, and it's the main reason we recommend not using Firefox 3 Beta 5 with Zotero. (We put in some workarounds in Zotero that mostly prevent it from occurring when editing other item data, but it still occurs when editing tags.) The bug has been fixed by Mozilla, but you'll have to use a Firefox trunk nightly or wait for Firefox 3 RC1 to get it.
  • About this,

I was using... I was using zotero from trunk with FF3 Beta. But few days ago it could not upgrade anymore because an authentification is required to get the trunk zotero. I could have sticked with the installed zotero, but it would not convert the database, just stopping there, nothing happen! I was hopping a newer version would fix the problem, but I haven't been able to get one (I kind of find annoying not to be able to download the last version of an open source project (BTW, I could not find its license)). I know the bleeding hedge is ... bleeding, but setting up an authentification from one day to the other, that's hard.

Anyway this is a great tool, keep going.

  • Ok I found the license, in the source.

We blocked anonymous access because the trunk is in an unstable state that won't be upgradeable to future versions, and, despite many warnings to the contrary in these forums, people were using it just to get Fx3 compatibility instead of using 1.0 branch dev builds.
  • Also, just to be clear, Fx3 trunk != Zotero trunk. We've recommended using Fx3 trunk nightlies until RC1 comes out (which should be later this week), but we've never recommended using the Zotero trunk.

Anyhow, follow my instructions in that other thread to get your data back into the 1.0 branch.
  • "people were using it just to get Fx3 compatibility instead of using 1.0 branch dev builds. "
    which I did...

At the time I thought this was the simplest way. I told myself I should not tag and I installed it... bad move I guess. I'll be back on 1.0

My life: I started with FF3 since beta1 or 2, then I found a killing feature (zooming) and I couldn't go back to FF2 so I tried to make zotero work with FF3. I didn't want to edit the source (lazy), so I figured the easiest way was to use trunk. I still believe it was true at the time, but I wouldn't bet on it ;-) I find it difficult to get the proper information on the zotero website, my current biggest critic to zotero.

    Thanks for the answer.
