Installed zotero and now my MS Word citation master list is empty!!!
I am in the middle of completing my doctoral thesis and had been using ms word exclusively as the citation manager. Today I downloaded and installed zotero and now my MS Word citation master list is empty!! The zotero library is empty too. Where have my hundreds of book references gone? If they are lost, I am in bug trouble.
Please help me! I'm about to pull my hair out!

Zotero doesn't touch anything related to this - all the Zotero word plugin does is to install a template (zotero.dot) into the Word start-up folder. There is no way this could delete anything in Word.
Something else is going on with your word citation list.
yes it was with word's own citation manager. i've been using it for ages and it was alright. it seems very odd that after installing zotero the word citation list is completely empty.
oh lord!
That said, which version of Word are you using, on which operating system? You could check whether the sources.xml file that should contain the bibliography data still does contain your references. See e.g.

it's word for mac 2008 on mac os x.
the sources.xml file only had 4kb i.e. it had been wiped!
thank god for time machine... i found yesterday's sources.xml and replaced the wiped one with it. now the references are back! yippee!!
before i did that i uninstalled zotero. now that i know how to fix the problem, i'll reinstall zotero and see if it happens again--then we'll know if it was zotero that caused the trouble.
how bizarre!
can you import the sources.xml into zotero? that is probably too much to hope for ;-)
i've been messing around with zotero for a couple of hours now and it's great! i've also downloaded and installed openoffice because i don't trust ms word any more! well, i didn't trust it much before because it crashes about 4 times a day, but the disappearing references really freaked me out!
