Microsoft Word and Google Chrome

I have google chrome as my internet browser and I recently downloaded Zotero with it however, I cannot figure out how to open/use zotero in Microsoft Word. How do I get Zotero into Microsoft word?
  • Assuming you have Zotero Standalone installed, you should already have the Word plugin. You can check from the Cite pane of the Zotero.

The Word plugin doesn't have anything to do with Google Chrome. Zotero's Chrome extension just lets you save from web pages.

    Start here:

  • Thank you. But I can't find Zotero anywhere in word. I went to the cite pane of Zotero and I reinstalled it to word but I can't find any of the Zotero buttons in word.
  • Did you restart Word?

    What version of Word?
  • I restarted my computer and I found Zotero on Word! Thank you sooo much Dan!
  • I have google chrome as my internet browser and microsoft word as my document thing, I've done what you told Nicole to do, but it's not working on my microsoft word. help me please.

And again, this has nothing to do with Chrome. The Word plugin interacts with Zotero Standalone or Zotero for Firefox.
  • Could not remove C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\Zotero.dot
Check the permissions of that directory. This could also be due to security software on your system preventing Firefox from access that directory.
  • how do i change the permission of the directory... what is the permissions directory anyway?
  • Google it. This would be a Windows/Word issue, not a Zotero one.

But there's a good chance that this is due to security software, so if you have some installed, try temporarily disabling it.
  • Hi I have the opposite problem, I do have zotero Word toolbar, but I don't have "export page" bar in my G-chrome browser. Googled it, looked up around, but i don't have this nice blue bar to export page info to my account or standalone.
  • start a new thread please - your issue is unrelated to this thread.
Make sure you actually don't see a URL bar icon in Chrome on this page:http://www.amazon.com/Wealth-Nations-Adam-Smith/dp/161382081X/

Ok, thank you! I managed to find and download chrome connector, all works well.
  • Like many Chrome users new to Zotero, I'm stumped by the direction to "click on the zotero icon" to enter my username and password into the "preferences" section. There is no such icon anywhere that I can find on that page, so I cannot follow that direction - and hence, cannot enter the group a colleague has set up for us. I use Windows 8.
  • Diana - do you have Zotero standalone installed?
Opening Zotero Standalone is the equivalen of clicking ton the zotero icon. If not, install Zotero Standalone zotero.org/download

(that said, those instructions should be updated).
  • Hi! I also have the problem of not finding any Zotero tool bar in Word. I am using Chrome and have Windows 7, and I have tried to restart etc as mentioned above, without any results. The error message is 104622158. Thanks in advance.
  • You need to install Zotero Standalone https://www.zotero.org/download/

After that, install word extension via Preferences -> Cite
  • Thanks for that, but I have installed Zotero Standalone and I also have an icon on my desk top and can save dokuments into Zotero, so I guess something is installed. I tried to reinstall, but same result. Any suggestions what is going wrong?
