German style according to Ferdinand Schöningh Verlag

Hello everyone,

I have discovered zotero only a few weeks ago and am absolutely amazed by how easy it is to understand and to use. Having started my MA dissertation just recently, I am really happy to have this great tool at hand! Everything fine until here. :)

Now here is my problem and subsequently my question: As a German history student, I have the same problem that many German users seem to have: there is no citation style available that really corresponds to the style I've been using until now. I tried to create my own style but failed miserably which is not surprising considering that I have never programmed anything in my life ;)

Now my hope is to find some help in the community!
The style I would like to use is quite simple and commonly used at the history department of my university (Humboldt-Universität Berlin) and I guess of other German history departments as well - so it will definitely be useful for other users, too.

After some research I found out that "my style" corresponds with the style used by Ferdinand Schöningh Verlag, for example in their series "Krieg in der Geschichte (KriG)": http://www.schoeningh.de/katalog/reihe/krieg_in_der_geschichte.html

Unfortunately, I couldn't find their citation style guidelines online, until now.

So my question is: Could anyone create a "Ferdinand Schöningh Verlag style" and add it to the zotero style repository? That would be amazing!
What do I need to provide for this? Should I try to find the style guidelines of Ferdinand Schöningh Verlag (by writing them an email for example) or should I simply give examples of how the style should look like?
I have never done this so I'm a bit lost here ;)

Thank you very much in advance!
Looking forwards to your answers!
  • This is what we need:
    https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/wiki/Requesting-Styles
Style guide etc. in German is fine - no need to add extra notes on how terms translate and so on - I read German.
  • I have just had an old student of mine who has now moved on to Heidelberg ask me for a style for the Historisches Seminar, Heidelberg (no style guide available online). I am still waiting to hear back whether it needs any tweaking (hence why it is not on the style repository yet), but if you want to try and see if it could be of use (or a starting point), you can get it by rightclicking on this link http://www.franziska.fr/hdb-histsem.csl
  • The style for Universität Heidelberg, Historisches Seminar has since been added to the repository (thanks again).
